The Centre for Creative Photography
The Centre for Creative Photography (Luovan valokuvauksen keskus, Luovake in short) was founded in Jyväskylä in October, 1989. The main focus of the association is to represent the art of photography, to promote all aspects of photography as a practice, and to enhance prevalent conditions of photographers by maintaining a vital connection to artists and institutions, both nationally and internationally.

The Centre for Creative Photography currently has over 130 members. The association also runs a centre for Creative Photography which represents photography from Central Finland and actively publishes a variety of photography based publications. The photography centre is part of a national network of photography in Finland and is known for its exhibitions and educational work in contemporary photography, as well as in the interface of photography and art.
Darkroom is hosted by The Centre for Creative Photography in the centre of Jyväskylä. This space is shared with print workshop. There is also a gallery in the building which works through open calls. We are working on arranging exhibition space for residency artist in the the city center, both indoors and outdoor galleries.
The Darkroom is one open space room with clear separation of dry and wet areas with a row of enlargers, two working sink. Equipment is only set up for b&w development. Darkroom can fit 1-4 people working at the same time. The members are a nice mix of professional photographers, artists, students and enthusiastic amateurs of all ages that work with a variety of formats, techniques and subject matter.
